The Shoe

  

The first fiction film by Pakalnina is set in Liepaja, a Latvian town on the border with the then-USSR. Coast patrols periodically search the beach for compromising traces. One morning, they find a woman’s shoe and a series of footprints that lead to the town. A research team, with their corresponding bloodhound, arrives to interrogate the residents from the town, and try the shoe on suspicious feet.
