Synopsis

Lionel Baier is seductive and he knows it. That allows him to make a film that revolves around him with no alibi whatsoever and still come out unharmed of such an exhibition of the ego. Now we must clarify that Baier is not a character but the writer, director, and protagonist of the film, although it would be far more appropriate to say that he's all that and also a character of himself. As his alter ego appearing in front of the camera says –we already know there are a lot more behind– when he talks about his book, this film is not an autobiography but an "autofiction". But maybe what's most interesting in this exercise of shameless personal display is not the way in which he tries to incorporate his own history to that of Europe, with the excuse of a trip to Poland in search of his roots, but the funny way in which it articulates its discourse on sexual identity. If even Cendrars and John Ford, so different and distant from each other, agree to share the curious vicinity of these images.
