Synopsis
She burst into Chilean poetry in the late 40s and dazzled everybody. Nicanor Parra dedicated his poem "La víbora" to her; Alejandro Jodorowsky says she was the woman who marked his life; Enrique Lihn, José Donoso, everyone fell in love with Stella Díaz Varín. They called her "La Colorina" because of her red hair; they got used to seeing her walk into bars barefoot, her face painted with colors, willing to provoke, and also to punch patrons if they got too close to her. Varín died at age 80, a poor, toothless alcoholic, but with the love of a new generation that revered her as the first punk poet. This documentary gathers testimonies from everyone who knew her, and from herself, from recent years, with that husky voice that brings Tom Waits to mind, and a fearsome temper, which, like her beauty, helped her to leave a mark in spite of having been ignored for decades by academies.
