    Synopsis

The first images in this film are those of a TV news show, and show a man hanging from a bridge with a girl in his arms. So, from the very beginning, we already know how far the main character’s desperation will go. Li Wu-Hisung lives in a harbor zone in Kaohsiung with his small daughter. He doesn’t have a job, and in order to earn some money, he takes on risky tasks in boats. The girl’s mother left them a while ago, but however, father and daughter seem to overcome that situation very well, thanks to their being affectionate with each other. But when the girl enters school the fact becomes decisive in the story (based on true events): due to a series of bureaucratic issues, Li can’t prove he’s her father, and the child is taken away from him. At this point, the film goes back to the images from the beginning, and the title that the young Taiwanese director Leon Dai decided to give to his second film starts making sense; that dismayed “I can’t live without you”, enigmatically, in Spanish.
